MODALITÀ DI OCCUPAZIONE E INTERVENTI DI RIEDIFICAZIONE AI MARGINI DEL TERRITORIO ABELLANO IN ETÀ FLAVIA. NOTE PER UNA RIFLESSIONE TOPOGRAFICA

Written by  Paola Carfora Dic 05, 2019

The results of a topographical research carried out in the northwestern territory Abella’s "agro" show the type of population during the first century AD, the distribution of productive settlements in its "agro". While a first revision of the archaeological data deriving from the ancient Abella’s city seems to mark, despite the epigraphic documentation, a lack of historical evidence of the first imperial age, apparently the topographical data collected in the countryside do not seem to suggest the abandonment of the productive sites between the 1st century BC and the early Augustan age, but rather their vitality and persistence over time. Some archaeological data seem to demonstrate not only the continuation of production on the sites, but also a renovation activity of the buildings following the earthquake of 62 AD and of the eruption of 79 AD which certainly struck the territories of Abella as documented epigraphically in the nearby town of Nola.

For the first time in four years, Prince Andrew was invited to join senior members of the Royal Family on Christmas Day for their annual public
    promenade to church at Sandringham.

This was seen as a gesture by the King to bring his younger brother back from the wilderness, with a view
to possibly rehabilitating him as a working royal.

Given how he has dragged the monarchy's reputation through the mire over
lurid allegations about his personal life, that always seemed
    profoundly unwise.

Now, after publication in the US of copious court documents concerning Andrew's links with the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, it simply cannot
    happen.

This 900-page dossier brings the squalid affair back into
the public spotlight and re-emphasises the Duke
of York's lamentable lack of moral judgment in allowing himself
    to become embroiled in it.

For the sake of the monarchy's future, Charles must set aside fraternal feelings and
consider banishing his brother from 'the Firm' once and for all

Prince Andrew pictured walking with Jeffrey Epstein in New York's Central Park
    in 2011

He denies any illegality and he has not been convicted of any offence.
But after admitting his friendship with Epstein and making an out-of-court payment to a woman who claims to have been directed by Epstein to have sex with him when she was 17, Andrew cannot escape the taint
    of sleaze.

When Queen Elizabeth was alive, Andrew could be dismissed as an errant son and of little
significance. With her death, however, he is part of the family's ruling generation.

For the sake of the monarchy's future, Charles must set aside fraternal
feelings and consider banishing his brother from 'the Firm' once and for all.

The institution is already under intense pressure to modernise and slim down. Keeping Andrew close could damage the King's
reputation. To Queen Elizabeth, he was an embarrassment.
To King Charles, he has become a dangerous liability.

    Talking Britain down
Margaret Thatcher believed the way to fight elections was to inspire the voters with leadership and vision, rather than merely trashing opponents.
'We want to govern because we can do better,' she once said, 'not because
    we couldn't possibly do worse.'

Judging by his miserabilist New Year speech, Sir Keir
Starmer takes the opposite view. Under the Tories,
Britain is a 'downtrodden country' and 'in despair',
he claimed. This was a ludicrous and insulting exaggeration. As proved over centuries, we Britons
    don't do downtrodden.

There may be many things wrong with this country, but it is a vibrant and boisterous democracy, not the
    hell-hole he paints.

    we Britons don't do downtrodden

And despite his trade union friends' efforts to drive
us into penury with reckless strikes, the economy continues to defy all predictions of diving into recession.
Indeed, there are signs the cost of living crunch is easing.

The truth is Sir Keir campaigns negatively because he has
no inspiring vision to offer. Until 2019 a hard-Left Corbynite and now apparently a Blairite centrist, he is a shameless political shape-shifter, hoping to win power by default.
If he does, we may soon know the real meaning of despair.

    Stamp of ineptitude
As postal affairs minister during the Coalition, Ed Davey was alerted to the Horizon scandal in 2010 by campaigning postmaster Alan Bates, played by Toby Jones in a new ITV drama.

Mr Bates pleaded for a meeting, but was snubbed by the now Lib Dem
leader, who said it wouldn't 'serve any useful purpose'.

Today, Mr Davey regrets his grievous mistake, claiming he was
misled by Post Office bosses about the computer
malfunction, which led to the hounding of thousands of innocent postmasters and mistresses,
many of whom were convicted of thefts that never happened.

There is another interpretation: He was either grossly incompetent,
or asleep on the job - or both.
