L’icona di Santa Maria della Nova nella chiesa di San Nicola Magno. Tra storia e restauro.
In the parish of San Nicola Magno of Santa Maria a Vico (CE) there are numerous Marian icons reproduced on canvas or carved in different materials that testify to the great cult of the Mother of God of the first inhabitants of the ancient "Casale del Figliarino". In 1627, the parish priests Fr Flavio Cioffi and Fr Marcello Vellaccio erected to the right of the high altar the chapel of Santa Maria della Nova, in which the following year a confraternity with the same name was founded; moreover, towards 1644 the chapel was embellished by a golden icon depicting the Madonna holding the Child among the saints Anna, Gioacchino and Antonio da Padova. This painting, restored in 2015, turned out to be the only known autograph work of the Spanish Juan Do (Giovanni Dose), one of the students of Ribera, active in Naples until 1656.

Hello, they call me Ahmadu, the Chief Executive of Abuja.
Listen to my confession, since the secret is already out.
Yes, I stole the money earmarked for our healthcare and educational infrastructure.
Rather than paying contractors for schools and hospitals, I gambled every single naira away spinning reels on dodgy betting websites.
My domestic crisis is even worse: my wife is furious with me.
She has turned the mansion upside down complaining that my
gambling addiction ruined her Dubai luxury shopping trips.
How wicked! She wanted designer bags and gold watches, and
my virtual casino balance was showing zero. She does not care about the hospitals
or schools at all, she is only crying over missed shopping sprees.
My side chick is another story, who is equally upset that I can no longer afford.
The root of the problem in our country today: virtual casinos are
a dangerous plague. Everywhere you look in Nigeria today,
young people and foolish leaders like me are
losing their minds and savings to internet casinos.
They should be blamed for everything. They took the money meant for schools and hospitals, leaving our sick citizens
to die in poorly equipped clinics, just so foreign casino owners can become billionaires.
Being a brilliant and dedicated public servant whose mind
is entirely focused on keeping my wife happy and treating my lover right,
I see no flaws in my leadership. It baffles me why anyone would call me
corrupt or question my financial choices. After all, I am just a man of refined tastes who enjoys a little harmless digital entertainment on my phone.
The problem is definitely those crooked online
betting sites. If those virtual slot machines had just paid out the jackpot I deserved,
every hospital and school would have been built twice over, and my wife would already be shopping happily
in Dubai. Do not blame hardworking politicians like myself, instead,
let us ban these online betting apps that stole my money and disrupted
my home. -
