The phenomenon of industrial decommissioning represents one of the most important manifestations of the socio-economic dynamics of the contemporary city. Remnants of industrial history, abandoned areas allow us to look at the different phases of the urban transformation of the city and, at the same time, present themselves as a "binding" problem for the design of the city of the present and the future, to the extent that (or you have to) deal with the spaces left unused, planning their compatible destinations. In Caserta, the case of the "ex Saint Gobain", the Pisan glass factory established in 1957 and decommissioned in 1988, partly reused today with the relocation of executive functions and services, had a great impact on the urban transformations of the city, modifying the plan structures.
